This week Chris and Jordan review the Nikon 24-70mm F2.8 S for Z-mount, a lens many photographers consider to be the foundation of the 'holy trinity' of zoom Nikon Nikkor Z 24-70 mm f/2.8 S. 4. Like others in the company's premium S line, it's built well, and The 24-70 and 14-30 f4 Z were a strong draw to Z mount for me but ultimately I preferred the Sony & 3rd party primes on E mount, and the 17-28/2.8. I'm curious to see what Nikon will do with their 70-200/4, I hope we start seeing more extending 70-200s like the Tamron 70-180 and the Canon RFs. The amazing thing about this comparison is that the F-mount 14-24mm f/2.8, by most measures, is an impressively sharp lens. Even a few years ago, its sharpness was considered state-of-the-art for a 14mm zoom. Yet the Z-mount lens is so much sharper. You lose one stop with the ZC-1.4x and two stops with the TC-2.0x. So the Nikon Z 70-200mm f2.8 VR S becomes a 98-280mm f4.0 lens on the TC-1.4x and a 140-400mm f5.6 lens on the TC-2.0x.
